The most distinctive feature of Osaka YWCA College Japanese Language Department is the high quality of the instructors. As the number of people learning Japanese becomes more diverse, there is a need for professional instructors who can meet the needs of all kinds of learners.
All Japanese language instructors at Osaka YWCA are members of the Osaka YWCA Japanese Teachers Association. Because our Japanese language instructors have passed the rigorous entrance exam, we are able to provide high-quality classes. At teacher meetings, we hold training sessions and research sessions to deepen our knowledge of Japanese language education and improve our teaching abilities, and we are constantly working to improve our teaching skills, such as by giving presentations on various issues in the field of Japanese language education. In addition, there are a wide variety of opportunities for students to work in external organizations such as universities, companies, and local governments, including providing and teaching Japanese language education, and their skills and leadership are highly evaluated.

    Original teaching materials and curriculum

Osaka YWCA's Japanese classes use original teaching materials that we have developed ourselves.
Experienced Japanese language instructors will create a curriculum tailored to the needs of each student for each course. In particular, the short-term course has developed a curriculum that emphasizes conversational skills, allowing you to learn practical Japanese that you can use right away. We have also put a lot of effort into developing textbooks, and have published numerous books to date.

    History of Japanese language education

Osaka YWCA's Japanese language education began in 1969, during Japan's period of high economic growth, with the training of Japanese language teachers. An environment was created in which professional Japanese instructors who had been trained in high-quality Japanese language teacher training courses could provide instruction with their specialized knowledge and skills, and in 1977, Japanese language classes were started for Japanese people who remained in China and returned to Japan. The following year, we established Japanese language classes for general foreigners who came to Japan for work, marriage, etc., as well as a full-time Japanese language course, and the school became a place of study where a diverse range of Japanese language learners gathered.
In 2001, we opened the Kinki China Returnee Support and Exchange Center, commissioned by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. In addition to Japanese language education, we are also actively involved in vocational training and community exchange activities. We are always in demand and active in supporting children with roots in foreign countries.
