Course introduction

This is designed for non-Japanese students who are willing to proceed to Japanese universities, graduate schools, vocational technical schools, etc in Japan and for students who would like take their time to study Japanese language. Classes mainly focus on Japanese grammar and sentence structures, starting from non-sophisticated structures, our courses are based on 4 basic skills; conversation, reading, listening and writing skills. You will learn basic sentence patterns under careful teaching by Japanese language teachers full of experience and will acquire high-level Japanese skills with application and practical skills.

In order to attend Japanese universities, graduate schools, two-year colleges, vocational technical schools, etc, you are desired to get a high score on the Japanese proficiency test, and it is necessary to have not only Japanese language skills but also basic abilities to learn a specialized field in universities, etc. Osaka College has established not only regular Japanese language classes but also English, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and general subject classes, and offers teaching for entrance examinations aiming for a higher level.

Also, this course is not only the best course for those who would like prepare for the entrance examinations, but also for those who would like to learn Japanese in order to live in Japan, such as those who married a Japanese person. By taking time and learning from the basics, you will surely acquire Japanese skills that will allow you to correspond to any situation.

Japanese Language Level / Attainable Goals

  Attainable goals
Primary Level(N5・N4・N3)
  • Being able to understand basic sentence structures and read and write simple descriptive text, written description of one’s thought, and text of one’s opinion.
  • Being able to accustom oneself to sounds of Japanese language and have a conversation necessary in everyday life and to make a short speech.
Middle Level(N3・N2)
  • Building a foundation to read long writings. Being able to write on a certain topic in approximately 600 to 800 words and to write a letter and e-mail in everyday life.
  • Being able to have an everyday conversation using expressions appropriate for certain situations. Being able to interview someone or have a discussion and to understand 50% of news
  • Mastering vocabularies including 1000 characters of kanji.
High Level(N1)
  • Being able to read writing in general (newspapers, novels, and critiques, for example) using a dictionary. Being able to write a summary of writing and write an essay.
  • Mastering natural conversational expressions and acquiring enough conversational skills to attend college or find an employment.
  • Being able to read and write kanji and vocabularies at the same level as Japanese people in general (2000 characters approx.)
Highest Level (N1~)
  • Being able to read writing in general to technical writing (newspapers, novels, and critiques, for example) Being able to write a thesis.
  • Being able to exchange words in all situations in one’s life using more appropriate expressions with ease.
  • Acquiring enough kanji and vocabulary skills to attend university or graduate school and work for a company without difficulty.
